The scientific workshop
"Applied Geology: Learning About Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils" will be visiting Kardzhali
On March 5, 2026, and March 6, 2026, at the Tourist Information Center (Kardzhali), Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Hristiana Georgieva, Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Tsvetomila Vladinova, Assistant Professor Radoslav Kalchev (Geological Institute, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), Valentina Tacheva, and Marina Petkova (National Museum "Earth and Маn") will hold four popular science workshops for children and students. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting and diverse world of geology—the science that reveals the secrets of the Earth and its long history. The workshops will present the diverse applications of geological science, and students will learn interesting facts about different types of minerals, rocks, and fossils. The basic properties of minerals and rocks will be demonstrated, and each participant will have the opportunity to identify a mineral and rock on their own. In addition, children will be able to make their own cast of a real fossil, thus starting their own personal paleontological collection and taking home a lasting memory of the experience.
