“Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology” journal
Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology Journal is issued by the Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1974 it has been published as an independent isssue, dedicated to the engineering geological conditions in the scope of various types of engineering facilities and hydrogeological research concerning the study and use of groundwaters in Bulgaria. The aim of the journal is to disseminate the results in the field among the scientific and professional community.
The journal is referenced in EBSCOhost-GeoRef; VINITI RAS; CASSI (CAS Source Index)
The journal Geologica Balcanica was founded in 1934 by Prof. Stefan Bončev. The journal has played a significant role in the dissemination of regional and conceptual contributions within the framework of geological sciences in the Balkans. Since 2008, Geologica Balcanica is the official journal of the Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association (CBGA). It is published three times a year by the Geological Institute “Strashimir Dimitrov” of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Geologica Balcanica welcomes original manuscripts covering all aspects of the geology of the Balkan Peninsula and surrounding regions. It is devoted primarily to research papers, but short communications reflecting interesting results, regional syntheses, reviews, and book reviews may also be considered. Short contributions and abstracts from recent workshops, symposia, congresses, and any relevant scientific activity could also be accepted.
Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Petrology
Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Petrology is the only academic Bulgarian periodical, specialized in the field of the above substance-related geological sciences. Its establisher and first chief editor is the distinguished Bulgarian mineralogist and geochemist Acad. Ivan Kostov.
The scientific scope of the periodical is defined still in its first issue vol. 1, 1975: Regional, theoretical and methodical problems, based on generic nature observations and experimental studies. More specifically: a) lithosphere and hydrosphere geochemistry, biogeochemistry and geochemistry of the organic matter, isotopic geochemistry and geochronology, experimental geochemistry; b) crystallochemical features of the minerals isomorphism, polymorphism and morphology, crystal habits, crystal growth and behavior, physico-chemical mineral forming conditions, physical properties of minerals, mineral systematics, mineral deposits, experimental mineralogy; c) petrology of igneous and metamorphic rocks, metasomathic and related processes connected to ore deposition.
Responding to the increased social interest, last 10 years the periodical also publishes papers in the field of geoecology, concerning specific geochemical and mineralogical aspects of the environmental protection.
