Geology for Young Explorers: The Fascinating World of Rocks, Minerals and Fossils
The Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is organizing a scientific workshop on geology for students. Participants in the workshop will learn about the diversity and importance of geology, as well as how interesting and exciting this science can be. With the help of collections of rocks, minerals, and fossils, they will discover where different minerals are found, what they are used for, and what their characteristic properties are. They will also learn how to identify and classify the most common minerals and rocks, as well as understand what fossils are, how they form, where and how to find them, and how to recognize them. The activities will include working with geological tools, such as optical microscopes, desktop and field geological magnifying glasses, and others.
Our scientific workshop will be held in Petrich on November 25, 2024. The event will be hosted by the Center for Personal Development Support, the municipal children's complex in Petrich.
The workshops will be led by Assist. Hristiyana Georgieva PhD, Assist. Milena Vetseva and Tzvetomila Vladinova, PhD student.
The event is organized with the support of the National Program "Education through Science."
