Combining field spectroscopy with electrical methods to develop an environmentally friendly and rapid approach for the exploration of critical and strategic raw materials

CleanExplore

The CleanExplore project is investment No BG-RRP-2.017-0035 of the Bulgarian's Recovery and Resilience Plan, implemented with the procedure "Financing of research projects in the field of green and digital technologies -2".

Reserach and development project core consists in the improvement of electrical methods for critical and strategic raw materials exploration through parallel application of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopic scanning at the sites were the electrical measurements are performed. The hypothesis is that, these two fundamentally different methods will complement each other, and thus the efficiency, speed and environmental frendliness of field exploration will increase and costs will decrease.

The project aims to increase the scientific and recerach potential of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by developing of an effective and environmentally friendly approach to explore the potential for natural deposits of critical and strategic raw materials that will be useful in future exploration campaigns.

  • Green Transition
  • Knowledge transfer
  • Open Science
  • Strengthening the research potential of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

Impact:

The CleanExpolre project contributes to the implementation of the measures set out in the National Program for the Exploration of Critical and Strategic Raw Materials in the EU's effort to secure part of the necessary raw materials from local sources.

  • Developed and tested methodology for rapid, effective, and environmentally friendly exploration of critical and strategic raw materials.
  • The results will accelerate the process of collecting information on potential deposits of critical raw materials in the EU.
  • Contribution to environmental protection with an epmhasis on reducing the carbon footprint.
  • The project result is directly applicable in the practice of exploration companiesq reaching a level of technological readiness 7.
