The Geological Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by vocation and tradition will celebrate the International Earth Day. In order to strengthen the significance of this holiday and emphasize the role of planet Earth as our home, this year we are organizing a cinema day dedicated to some of the most interesting natural phenomena related to geology.

The event will take place in the Odeon cinema, Sofia, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on April 22 and is organized with the courtesy and media partnership of the Bulgarian National Television. It is our goal and our sincere wish that, through this cinema day, the various geological processes and phenomena will reach a larger audience. In addition to the cinema program, we will present short scientific lectures, a collection of geological samples, information materials and interesting activities with an optical microscope and a geological magnifying glass to introduce young and old to the fascinating world of geology.
