DAAD grant (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) April- May 2003 to - Dr. Peter Konigshof in Forschungsinstitut und Naturmuseum Senckenberg, Frankfurt am Main, Germany Subject of the co-investigations : Determination of the conodont colour alteration, low grade methamorphism and peleotemperatures in the Paleozoic sediments from boreholes in North Bulgaria.
Specialization (specify)
(i)main field Palaeozoic paleontology , stratigraphy and taxonomy of conodonts, Paleoecology, paleoenvironmental reconstructions on the base of conodonts biochronology of the Silurian, Devonian and Carboniferous time intervals.Colour Alteration Index method, Determining of the low temperature mineralization by means of microprobe analyses on the conodont surfaces.
(ii)other fields
micropaleontology (taxonomy and zonation on Radiolaria) and biostratigraphy of the Jurassic time intervals.
(iii)current research interest
Paleontological investigations of the Devonian and Carboniferous in North Bulgaria based on conodonts; estimation of the paleotemperatures, biogeographic affinities; investigation the effect on the conodont textures from hydrothermal activity, low-grade metamorphizm, hydrocarbonexploration, low-temperature hydrothermal mineralization. Moesian paleogeographical position during the Paleozoic age and the time of its collision to the Laurussia. (The Moesian terrane in the framework of space and time development of the adjacent areas) Peri-Gondwanan origin of the Moesian terran. The palaeoclimatic interpretations based on the presence in the Palaeozoic strata of minerals and rocks indicating specific climatologic conditions and zones. The palaegeographical interpretation and reconstruction of the Moesian Terran is based on combined biogeographical, palaeocimatical and palaeomagnetical analyses.
