BULGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
 NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF GEOLOGY

    The National Committee of Geology is composed of representatives of all important geological institutions and non-governmental organizations in Bulgaria. Its principal tasks are to maintain the links with the international geological organizations (International Union of Geological Sciences; International Geological Congress; the International Lithosphere Programme) and to co-ordinate the efforts of the Bulgarian geological organizations and institutions on the international field. The Committee is composed of four personal members and nine ex-officio members-heads of the Bulgarian geological organizations and institutions.

   The Committee members are (since 1995):

The National Committee of Geology actively participates in the organization of the 32nd International Geological Congress. Acad.T.Nikolov participated in the foundation of the Mediterranean Consortium (GEOMED).
Prof. Ivan Zagorchev is the Bulgarian National GEOMED Representative.
